What I Learned in Open and Distance Learning Course?




Hello everyone, today I will share with you the assignments I prepared in the open and distance learning class. You can also benefit from these and add new ones to your information.


W1 CAN / CAN’T DO STATEMENTS

For this assignment, our teacher asked us for a sentence about what we can and cannot do using digital resources. This was a group work and I have attached the screenshot of the assignment here.


W1 Editing Your Websites

I edited my website from the second year. Actually, this assignment was about my blog and I shared link of my blog.

W2 Exit Tickets


Exit tickets collect feedback on students' understanding at the end of a lesson and provide the students with an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned. They are useful for learning and I prepared an exit ticket, took picture and uploaded my exit ticket that I took notes. This is screenshot of my exit ticket.


W2 Joining FB/TG Groups + Watching Webinars

For this assignment, we are required to participate in a webinar by watching it online and then join a Facebook or Telegram group related to the topics we've discussed in class. This was really important for me as I learnt lots of useful information about teaching. I will definitely use them to improve myself.

W3 Selecting Digital Materials

We worked as a group for this assignment. We chose a digital material and worked on it. We especially worked on writing skill practice. Our material includes activities based on open ended questions which make students more creative. With these questions, students can learn how to improve their writing skills. When they engage in questions, they can learn more about writing. I have attached one of the screenshot of our digital material.



W4 Adapting Digital Materials

We adapted the digital material we chose last week this week. We chose the parts that require adaptation. When we adapt, we use 

adding , deleting , and reordering. By the help of making these adaptations, we could have a more efficient material. Then, we adapt the material for use in online lessons.

W5 Creating Digital Materials

For this week ,we grouped up with our fellow group members.

Using LUMI, created a digital activity/material with contextual details of our choice as a group. We arranged age and grade level and wrote the link for lumi.

W6 Presentation of Developed Materials

For this section , our teacher asked us to make a presentation about the material.



W7 Online Teaching Video

In this course, I learned a lot of things that I can use in my profession. Strategy techniques and tools are just some of them. Thanks to these, I can make much more interactive and productive lessons. Our homework topic for this week was actually to apply what we learned in a way. We chose one teacher in our group and the others became students. In this way, we shot a five-minute video. Our subject was online education' effects on learning. We talked about advantages and disadvantages of online education. Even though we had some difficulties due to technology, it was a productive work for us. A bulletin board-Padlet

 


Hello my dear readers,

Are you ready to meet Padlet? I will introduce it in my this post.It is a digital board where you can add images, videos, and articles you want or imagine. You can customize it as you wish and put your plan and program on the board. You can make your notes, videos, images and many virtual materials you want to keep in a padlette.

It is useful for foreign language education.Teachers can work in a common area with their students or people and teach private lessons. If you are a teacher, you can share the board you have created and create a working environment with the people you want.In your project and performance assignments, you can ask your students to do the Padlet application. In this way, you can easily check your students' homework by accessing the student page from within the Padlet system; By using your students' interest in technology, you can enable them to have a more enjoyable homework process.

Hello my dear readers,

Have you ever heard about Augmented Reality? If you haven’t, you will have learned with me.

Using the object recognition feature of devices, it is called superimposing of virtual objects on real images. For you to benefit from this technology; You must have internet access in your environment and devices that will define augmented reality (smart glasses, smart phones or tablets). In addition, one of the applications defined on Augmented Reality(AR) must be installed on this device. After these conditions are fulfilled; When you define the image designed for Augmented Reality with the application on your device, your device detects the image and you encounter a new image.

Effect of Augmented Reality on Foreign Language Education 

Learning with interactive models is always more catchy. Augmented reality technology also provides this. With the applications about AR, you can learn and teach a language in a more meaningful way. 



Snapchat - An Augmented Reality Application 

I tried one of the AR applications. It is Snapchat. Snapchat; It is a social network that allows you to take photos and short videos and share these contents by coloring them with notes, effects or stickers. By using this application, you may take educational videos, photos and share with people. It's one of the fun ways to learn. You should remember that technology is inseparable part of our lives. For this reason, we should learn and use these applications.

I hope all of you are fine. Our topic today is Virtual Reality. VR is an immersive experience, also referred to as computer simulation reality.

It refers to technologies that use VR headsets to produce sounds, images, and other sensations that replicate a real environment or create an imaginary world. VR is a way to immerse users in a completely virtual world. VR can be used in education, entertainment, health, etc. With the education sector, which is one of the most efficient usage areas of VR technology, distance education has become more qualified. It has been facilitated for students to comprehend the lessons practically with the created environment. It also has a great effect on foreign language education. It makes learning and teaching more enjoyable. 

YouTube as VR Application and Education


YouTube is widely used application. It is primarily known for being keen on 360-degree videos including virtual reality. There are many categories on YouTube. To teach more efficienly and effectively, you can prepare instructive videos for your students and share them. You can also advice them to watch videos about listening or speaking.





Second Life


 Hello everyone!

Second Life is an internet based virtual world.The game promises its users a second life. These artificial things created are limited only by your imagination.

I can say that it is an enjoyable and exciting game. You start to play game by creating an avatar. You can create it how you wish. You can have some friends, if you want. So it also helps you to have a more social relation. Before finishing I want to share my avatar with you. See you in another post.



Pixton-Make Comics

 


Hello everyone!

I named my blog Learn with Fun, because I think the best and fun way to learn is to learn by having fun. Sor this reason, I always try to share funny applications with you and today my topic is Pixton.

Pixton is a fun web application where students will first create their own avatars and then comics with their classmates.

How to use?

First, you need to log in to the site and create an account. After creating an account, you need to create your own avatar. To add a comic, you first need to choose a theme and background. You can add other characters in addition to your avatar. You can change the shape of the speech bubbles, your typefaces. You can change the mood of your character according to the situation and create a more realistic story. After creating a story, when you click the save button, your story will appear in your account.

I tried it and it was very enjoyable. I really liked studying with Pixton. It is my one of favourite apps. Here is my work and my cute character. 🤗🤗💕💕

Have you ever heard about Flipgrid? It is my topic for today. It is known  that web tools have an important impact on our lives. Flipgrid is an efficient web tool for educational activities. 
It is especially useful for teachers. Flipgrid application is an application that makes giving homework and getting feedback more efficient and enjoyable. With this application, you can ask your students to tell what they know about the subject or take a video as an evaluation after processing a topic, and help the whole class learn from each other through the videos they have taken.
